78 COLLECTORS, SHERIFFS, SECURITIES, - &c;

PERRY LEIZEAR.

AN ACT to allow Perry Leizear, late Collector of taxes in the Fifth Collection Dis-
trict, of Montgomery county, further time to complete his collections.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, Perry Leizear, late Collec-
tor of taxes in the Fifth Collection District, of Montgomery county, be
and he is hereby authorized, until the first day of April, eighteen
hundred and sixty-three, to collect all sums of money and balances due
him as Collector of taxes for the Fifth Collection District, of Montgo-
mery county, in the same manner which the said Perry Leizear, could
or might have done within the time now limited bylaw; provided, that
nothing in this act shall be construed to prevent the Comptroller from
enforcing the payment of any sums of money that may be due to the
State by the said Collector.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall he the duty of the said
Perry Leizear, before he proceeds to execute the property of any person
or persons for taxes in virtue of this act, to deliver to such person or
persons, chargeable with the same, at least thirty days previous to the
levying of such execution, a fair account in writing, of the taxes de-
manded of him, her or them, and an affidavit thereto annexed, that he
hath not directly or indirectly, received any part thereof, or any security
or satisfaction for the same, more than the credits given to the best of
his knowledge.

JOHN R. MILLER.

AN ACT to authorize and empower John R. Miller, Chief Bailiff of the town of Rock-
ville, to collect the taxes imposed by the Commissioners of said town.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John R. Miller, Chief Bailiff of the town of Rockville, for the
present year, be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to collect
the taxes imposed by the Commissioners for said town, and placed in
the hands of James McNerhany for collection, so far as the same remains
uncollected by said McNerhany, and the official bond of said Miller
shall be responsible for the collection and payment over of said taxes,
in the same manner and to the same extent as if the same had gone into
his hands under an original assessment.

SEC. 2. Re it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That in all cases hereafter when the office of Chief Bailiff of said town
shall, become vacant from death, resignation or removal, the commis-
sioners of said, town shall have authority to appoint some other person
to complete the collection of any uncollected taxes due said corporation,
and remaining uncollected, and the person so appointed shall give a
bond with security to be approved by the said Commissioners for the
