granted to the Isabella Gas Works, by an act passed by the General
Assembly, at its January session, eighteen hundred fifty-three, chapter
two hundred and thirty-four, entitled, "An act to incorporate the Isa-
bella Gas Works of Frederick city, " in as full and ample manner as if
the said Charles E. Trail, Jacob M. Kunkel and William T. Brown
had been named as the corporators in said original act of incorpora-
tion, and subject to the limitations and restrictions therein contained,
except as hereinafter provided, and the. said original act of incorpora-
tion of the Isabella Gas Works, is hereby continued and confirmed unto
the said Charles E. Trail, Jacob M. Kunkel and William T. Brown,
their associates, successors and assigns.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Charles E. Trail, Jacob
M. Kunkel and William T. Brown be and they are hereby appointed
Directors of the said Isabella Gas works, and they are hereby author-
ized to act as such, until by transfers of the stock or additional sub-
scriptions, the number of stockholders shall be increased to ten or up-
wards, and that upon such increase of stockholders, or by the first
Monday in July thereafter, a board of Directors, either of stockholders
or non-stockholders, shall be elected by the stockholders, to conduct and
manage the business and affairs of the said Isabella Gas Works, in con-
formity with the provisions of this and of said original act of incorpo-
ration.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.
MARYLAND CORN AND FLOUR EXCHANGE.
AN ACT to Incorporate the Maryland Corn and Flour Exchange.
WHEREAS, it is represented to this. General Assembly that it would
greatly promote the interests of the producers of grain, provisions,
flour and produce generally, as well as those of the buyers and sellers
thereof, that a mart or exchange for the sale and purchase of such
articles should be established in the city of Baltimore, under proper
regulations and under the control of loyal citizens of the United
States, and where farmers, millers, factors and shippers can have the
greatest facilities for the transaction of business, by meeting daily and
by having access to commercial newspapers, prices current and tele-
graphic communications; and whereas, a number of persons have
associated themselves for the purpose of establishing and conducting
such mart or exchange, and affording such facilities in said city;
therefore:
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That William Chesnut, Peter Sauerwine, George F. Needham, Samuel
Hazlehurst, James A. Hooper, William E. Woodyear, B. B. Perkins,.
