108 ROADS—OPENING, IMPORTING SLAVES, &c.

hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to purchase from
Thomas H. O'Neal, for the use of the said county, all his field notes,
plats, Surveyor's Books, &c., at and for such sum or price as may be
agreed upon between the said Commissioners and the said O'Neal;
and in case said Commissioners shall determine to make said purchase,
they shall levy upon the assessable property of said county the sum of
money necessary to pay for the same.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the
day of its passage.

PUBLIC ROADS, HOWARD AND MONTGOMERY COUNTIES.

AN ACT to authorise the Commissioners of Howard and Montgomery counties to
open and establish a public road therein.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Commissioners of Howard and Montgomery counties be and
they are hereby authorized, if in their discretion they may deem it ex-
pedient, having in view a due regard to the financial condition of their
respective counties, to have opened, under their direction, and to estab-
lish a public road from the old Baltimore road to the Parrs ville road in
Montgomery county, to start at a point in the first named road, upon
the border lines of the lands of Miller and Smith, and to run first along'
said lines, then near or upon the border lines of the land of Bayer,
Pickett and Warner, to Shafersville, then near or upon the border lines
of the lands of Hardy, Warner, and Welsh, then through the lands of
Warfield, Murray and Mullinix to the Patuxent river, then near or upon
the border lines of Clagett and Etchison to said Parrsville road.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That the necessary expenses of opening said
road in each county may be assessed by the Commissioners of that
county.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

PUBLIC ROAD, WORCESTER COUNTY.

AN ACT to empower the County Commissioners of. Worcester county to open a
Public Eoad in the second and seventh Election Districts of said county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the County Commissioners of Worcester county, be and they are
hereby authorized and directed to open a Public Road in the second
and seventh Election Districts of Worcester county, to begin at the
present entrance to the farm belonging to Justice M. Bratton, on the
west side of the Pocomoke river, within two miles of the town of Snow
Hill, and running thence to and across Nassaongo creek, thence by
"Coxes Old Mill" to intersect the public road leading from Nassaongo
