the said treasurer; provided, there shall not be levied, or col-
lected in any one year, more than twenty-four cents in every
hundred dollars; but a special tax may be imposed upon any
school district, if a majority of the tax-payers in said school dis-
trict shall so petition the county commissioners.

JURORS.
The Act of June 18, 1861, ch. 56, repeals section 91 and substitutes the following:
SEC. 1. Each juror summoned on the regular panel of jurors
to the Circuit Court of Talbot county shall be entitled to receive
for each day he shall attend as juror, the sum of one dollar and
fifty cents, and mileage at the rate of five cents per mile for every
mile he shall have necessarily travelled from his residence to the
county town; but such mileage shall not be allowed on the re-
turn trip to his residence.
SCHOOLS.
The Act of May 7, 1861, ch. 12, repeals sections 151, 154 and substitutes the following:
2. The county commissioners of Talbot county shall levy an-
nually an amount of money necessary to be applied to the pur-
poses of primary schools, including the salaries of teachers, books,
