66 CECIL COUNTY. [ART. 8.

of fire-arms or fire-works in said village; to suppress and abate
all nuisances; to prevent swine, ducks, and geese from going at
large; to prevent any immoderate driving or riding through the
streets in any carriage, stage, cart, wagon or other vehicle, or on
horseback, so as to endanger the lives or limbs or property of
the citizens of said village, or disturb the quiet enjoyment of the
streets and thoroughfares; and to prevent the parading and
indecent exhibition of any stud horse through the streets, and
may impose fines not exceeding ten dollars for any offence, on
any person violating said ordinances.

RISING SUN.

The Act of 1862, ch. 151, professes to repeal sections 165 to 174, and substitutes the

following:

4. The citizens of the village of Rising Sun, Cecil county,
Maryland, are a body politic by the name of "Commissioners
of Rising Sun, " with all the privileges of a body corporate, and
as such shall have succession, and by their corporate name
may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, grant, receive and
do all other acts as natural persons, and may purchase and hold
real, personal and mixed property, or dispose of the same for the
benefit of said village, and have and use a common seal which
they may change at pleasure.

5. The free male white citizens of said village of the age of
twenty-one years and upwards, being citizens of the United
States, who shall have resided in said village for and during the
space of six months preceding, may on the second Monday in
May, in each and every year, at the usual place of holding elec-
tions in said village, be authorized to elect five commissioners
for said village, who shall have resided within the corporate
limits of the same one year next preceding the election.

6. The said commissioners shall annually appoint some person
to act as judge of said election, who shall open the polls at
three o'clock, P. M., and close the same at six o'clock, P. M., and
the persons who shall have the majority of votes shall be de-
clared elected commissioners for the ensuing year.
