CHAPTER 366
(House Bill 687)
AN ACT to amend the Declaration of Rights of the Constitution of
Maryland, to add new ARTICLE 46, to state that equality
of rights under the law shall not be abridged or denied because of
sex.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
(Three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two houses
concurring), That new ARTICLE 46 is hereby proposed to
the Declaration of Rights of the Constitution of Maryland, the same,
if adopted by the legally qualified voters of the State, as herein pro-
vided, to become part of the Constitution of Maryland, all to read
as follows:
46.
Equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged or denied
because of sex.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the aforegoing sections
hereby proposed as amendments to the Constitution of Maryland, at
the next general election to be held in this State in November 1972,
shall be submitted to the legal and qualified voters thereof for their
adoption or rejection in pursuance of directions contained in Article
14 of the Constitution of this State, and at the said general election,
