books so transcribed, and such said certification shall be attested by the
clerk of the respective Boards of Supervisors. The law with respect to
notice of the location of polling places shall apply to those established
under the provisions of this section. It shall be the duty of the Boards
of Supervisors to locate the polling places in any one precinct as close to-
gether as possible, so as to minimize any inconvenience to voters. Pro-
vided, that the Boards of Supervisors of Elections of Montgomery, Anne
Arundel, Caroline, Howard and Washington Counties, respectively, may,
in their discretion, so divide the list of voters at any polling place in any
election district or in any precinct in any election district in Montgomery,
Anne Arundel, Caroline, Howard and in Washington Counties, respec-
tively, in such manner that each set of books shall contain approximately
the same number of names of voters thereon and towards that end may
adopt any division of the first letters of the surnames of such voters which
the said Boards of Supervisors of Elections of Montgomery, Anne Arundel,
Caroline, Howard and Washington Counties, respectively, may deem
necessary

Provided, further, that the Board of Supervisors of Elections of Howard
County in exercising its discretion to divide the list of voters as herein
authorized may, to afford greater accommodation to the voters, permit the
partitioning of the room or rooms of a polling place, according to alpha-
betical divisions of voters, and if said Board finds a polling place inade-
quate to accommodate the voters, according to alphabetical divisions, then,
for greater accommodation to the voters, said Board may authorize the
establishment of additional polling places within the particular district or
precinct of a district, such additional polling place or places, however,
not to be more than three hundred feet apart or distant from one another.

176.1 The Board of Supervisors of Election of Wicomico County
shall have power whenever more than 600 persons are registered in any
one election precinct, or in any election district which may not be divided
into election precincts, to provide, in their discretion, one or two, but not
more than three additional polling places in each such election precinct or
district, and whenever the Board of Supervisors of Elections of Wicomico
County shall designate an additional polling place or places in any election
precinct, they shall appoint judges and clerks of election therefor as in this
Article provided, who shall have all the powers, perform all the duties, be
subject to all the responsibilities and be liable to all the penalties prescribed
in this Article for judges and clerks of election. Whenever in Wicomico
County an additional polling place or places are provided for any such
election precinct, or election district, it shall be the duty of the Board of
Supervisors of Election of Wicomico County to cause an additional set or
sets of books to be prepared, containing the names of registered voters,
transcribed from the original books. Said sets of books shall contain the
names of voters with such division and classification of the first letters of
the surnames of voters, among the several sets of books, as shall in the dis-
cretion of the Board of Supervisors of Wicomico County most expeditiously
and evenly divide the total number of voters for such election precinct or
election district among the polling places provided therefor. One set of
books shall be used in each of the polling places designated as provided for
