1184 ARTICLE 89B.

said company, its successors and assigns, and the holders of said stock,
shall be forever free and exempt from all of said taxes. The exemption
herein provided shall not be extended, however, directly or indirectly, so
as to include any real or personal property otherwise subject to taxation
which may be owned by said company, its lessees, successors or assigns,
apart from and in addition to the property hereinabove specifically ex-
empted from such taxation, but any and all land, water rights and other
real property, and the improvements thereon, at any time acquired and
held by said Company, its lessees, successors and assigns, apart from and
in addition to said bridge, the ways and approaches thereto, and appur-
tenant structures, shall be subject to assessment and taxation for county
and State purposes as other real estate is now or may hereafter be taxed,
by law.

64. None of the provisions contained in Sections 153 to 160, inclusive,
of Article 23 of the Code of Public General Laws of this State shall be
deemed to be applicable to said bridge or to said Company, its successors,
and assigns with respect thereto.

GEORGE WASHINGTON MEMORIAL BRIDGE.

1933. ch. 551, sec. 1.

64A. The George Washington Memorial Bridge Public Corporation,
a corporation duly created and existing under the general laws of this State
is hereby authorized to construct a bridge over the Potomac River from a.
point in Charles County at or near Ludlow's Ferry to a point approxi-
mately opposite in the State of Virginia near Dalghren and Colonial
Beach, together with appropriate approaches and appurtenant structures,
and to maintain, operate, repair and rebuild the same.

64B. Said bridge shall be a highway bridge for vehicular traffic and
the driveway of said bridge shall be twenty-two feet clear between curbs
and said bridge shall be constructed with one three hundred foot lift span
located at the navigation channel in said river which lift span shall provide
for a two hundred and fifty foot lateral clearance and a one hundred thirty-
five foot vertical clearance in lifted position; and that before said Com-
pany shall undertake the construction of said bridge, the plans and speci-
fications thereof, including the specifications of the above mentioned draw
or lift span shall be submitted to and approved by the State Roads Com-
mission.

64C. Said Company may agree with the owners for the land, water
rights or other properties and for the earth, stone or other material neces-
sary for the construction, maintenance, repair or rebuilding of said bridge,
