958 ARTICLE 4.

pay to such teacher's estate one-half the amount, without interest, which
shall have been paid into said Teachers' Retirement Fund by said teacher.

102R. The said Teachers' Retirement Fund and all salaries granted
and payable out of the same shall be and are exempt from seizure or levy
under attachment, execution, supplemental process and all other process;
and such salaries or any payment of the same shall not be subject to sale,
assignment or transfer by any beneficiary, and any such sale, assignment
or transfer of the same shall be absolutely void.

102S. The terms "teachers" and "members of the teaching force of
Baltimore City," as used in this subdivision of this Charter, shall mean
and include any superintendent, principal, vice-principal, assistant super-
intendent, supervisor, assistant supervisor, person in charge of any special
department of instruction and any teacher or instructor regularly em-
ployed as such by the Board of School Commissioners of said city.

1918, ch. 296.

102T. Any teacher, now a member of the Teachers' Retirement Fund
of Baltimore County, under Chapter 83 of the Acts of the General As-
sembly of Maryland of 1912, who shall become a member of the teaching
force of Baltimore City in pursuance of any Act extending the limits of
Baltimore City, shall receive full credit for the number of years he or
she shall have taught in the public schools of Baltimore County, to the
same extent and with the same rights as if he or she, as the case may be,
had taught in the public schools of Baltimore City, and shall be entitled
to become a member of the Teachers' Retirement Fund of Baltimore
City, established in pursuance of the Act of 1908, now Sections 102A
to 102S of the Revised Charter of Baltimore City, by virtue of transfer-
ring to said fund the amount he or she shall have paid to the Teachers'
Retirement Fund of Baltimore County; and the Board of Estimates of
Baltimore City shall provide in the Ordinance of Estimates for paying
to the City Retirement Fund for each of such teachers the difference
between the sum obtained from the said Retirement Fund of Baltimore
County and the sum needed to meet the requirements of the said Retire-
ment Fund of Baltimore City.

DEPARTMENT OF CHARITIES AND CORRECTIONS.

1898, ch. 123.

103. There shall be a Department of Charities and Corrections of the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, which shall consist of the Super-
visors of City Charities and the Visitors to the City Jail. The head of
