926 ARTICLE 4.

tenance and operation of the sanitary sewerage system and the storm-
water drainage system in accordance with the provisions of Sections 84,
86 and 86D of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
and by the same sections of the Charter of Baltimore City, and by any
other Act of the General Assembly or Section of the Charter of Baltimore
City or Ordinance of the Mayor and City Council shall be and are hereby
transferred to and hereafter shall be exercised and performed by the Bu-
reau of Sewers as the lawful successor to the said Highways Engineer to
the same extent as if the Bureau of Sewers had been named in the provi-
sions of the Acts of the General Assembly, the Charter of Baltimore City
and Ordinances of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore as the body
upon which the said rights, powers, duties, obligations and functions were
conferred.

All of the rights, powers, duties, obligations and functions conferred
by law upon the Commissioner of Health relating to the inspection, super-
vision, construction and maintenance of sewers and drainage in accord-
ance with the provisions of paragraph (23), title "Sewers," of Section 6
of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland as the same
was amended by Chapter 450 of the Acts of the General Assembly of
1924, and in accordance with the provisions of any other Act of the
General Assembly or section of the Charter of Baltimore City or ordi-
nance of the Mayor and City Council, which conferred such rights, powers,
duties, obligations and functions upon the Commissioner of Health relat-
ing to the inspection or supervision of sewer or drain construction and
repair work, shall be and are hereby transferred to and hereafter shall
be exercised and performed by the Bureau of Sewers to the same extent
as if the Bureau of Sewers had been named in the provisions of the Acts
of the General Assembly, the Charter of Baltimore City and ordinances
of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore as the body upon which the
said rights, powers, duties, obligations and functions were conferred.

The Bureau of Sewers shall perform such other duties and exercise
such other powers as may be required from time to time by ordinance of
the Mayor and City Council, subject, however, to the power and authority
conferred upon the Chief Engineer by the provisions of this Charter.

BUEEAU OF HARBORS.

There shall be in the Department of Public Works a Bureau of Har-
bors. The head of this Bureau shall be the Harbor Engineer, who shall
direct its operation, and who shall perform, subject to the authority of
the Chief Engineer, the duties and exercise the powers which are herein
imposed or conferred upon the Bureau of Harbors.

The Harbor Engineer shall be appointed by the Mayor with the con-
sent of the' City Council, as provided in Section 25 of the Charter of
Baltimore City, and hold his office as therein provided.
