232A. The revised, codified and printed ordinances of the Mayor and.
Councilmen of Frostburg, adopted by said Mayor and Councilmen on the
tenth day of August, eighteen hundred and eighty-five, are declared valid
and binding, and the printed copy thereof issued by authority and under
the sanction of said body, shall be legal evidence of the passage and of the
contents of the ordinances contained therein in any court of law or equity
in this State; and the said Mayor and Councilmen may at any time pro-
vide by ordinance for the codification or re-codification of such ordi-
nances as have been or may hereafter be passed by them, and for the print-
ing of such codification or re-codification thereof; and the printed copy
thereof, issued by authority and under the sanction of said body, shall
be legal evidence of the passage of said ordinances and the contents thereof
in any court of law or equity in this State.

233. The Mayor and Councilmen at their first meeting in the month of
May shall elect a tax collector from among the registered voters of the-
town to serve one year.

234. It shall be the duty of said tax collector to collect all taxes.
once every year, all the water rents once every three months, and any
other assessments made by the Mayor and Councilmen of any char-
acter whatsoever, and shall report to the Mayor and Councilmen once
every month of all money collected, and turn the same over to the
Treasurer of said town. He shall file a bond in the penal sum for six
thousand dollars, and said bond shall be liable for all taxes, water
rents and assessments, whether collected or not, except such taxes, water
rents and assessments as the said Mayor and Councilmen may allow
as insolvencies, the claims for insolvencies to be submitted by the said
tax collector to the said Mayor and Councilmen during the term of his
office. He shall, on the tenth day of January, in the year for which he
was elected, take proceedings to collect by law all taxes remaining unpaid,
and he shall collect by law all water rents that have been due for fifteen
days, and all assessments within six months after they are due. Fifteen
days after the expiration of each quarter he shall notify the water super-
intendent of all water rents for the preceding quarter remaining unpaid,
and it shall be the duty of the water superintendent to turn over the same,
and he shall not again turn on the water for the property or properties
in default until the water rent due, together with a fee of one dollar is.
paid to said collector, which said fee shall be paid by said collector to the
town treasurer. The said collector shall be allowed three per cent. (3%)
for all money collected.
