782 ARTICLE 3.

1910, ch. 16, sec. 2, p. 570. B. Co. C. (1916), sec. 583. 1928, sec. 702.

702. The Board of County Commissioners of Baltimore County are
hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to levy and collect
a tax upon the assessable property of Baltimore County at a rate not to
exceed nine cents on the one hundred dollars, the same to be in addition
to the tax provided for in the preceding section hereof, and to be used
for the purpose of the erection of new school buildings, furnishings, re-
pairs, additions, heating plants and sanitary improvements to school build-
ings now erected or to be hereafter erected in said county, to be levied and
collected as other taxes are and paid over to the treasurer of the said Board
of County School Commissioners of Baltimore County at the time and
under the same regulations as provided for the payment of the taxes re-
ferred to in the preceding section as therein set forth; provided, however,
that there shall be no other levy for Baltimore County for school purposes,
and that all Acts or parts of Acts inconsistent herewith are hereby re-
pealed, in so far as they apply to Baltimore County.

Chapter 506 of the Acts of 1916 (Art. 77 of the Anno. Code) supersedes all local
laws regulating the tax rate for schools in the several counties of Maryland.

703. The Board of County Commissioners of Baltimore County are
hereby authorized, empowered and directed to levy and collect such a
tax on the assessable property of said county as the Board of County
School Commissioners of said county shall designate as proper to defray
the usual and necessary running expenses of the public school system of
said county; provided, that said tax shall not exceed thirty-one cents on
the one hundred dollars; taxes so levied and collected shall be levied and
collected as other taxes and shall be paid over to the treasurer of the
Board of County Commissioners of Baltimore County upon the order of
the Board of County School Commissioners of Baltimore County at such
times and in such amounts as shall be necessary; provided, the collections
from said school levy shall be sufficient for said purpose, and when not
sufficient funds are on hand from the said school levy the said Board of
County Commissioners of Baltimore County, at their discretion, are here-
by authorized to advance a sufficient sum to supply such deficiency from
any other funds not immediately demandable for other purposes of said
county.

704-710. Ch. 31, Acts 1924, authorized the County Commissioners to
issue $1,500,000 of coupon bonds for the erection and equipment of school
buildings, and to levy taxes to pay the interest on and to redeem said

bonds.

711-715. Ch. 32, Acts of 1924, authorized the County Commissioners
to make a temporary loan of $500,000 for the erection and equipment of
school buildings, the same to be liquidated when the bonds authorized
by Chapter 243, Act of 1922, are sold.
