481. It shall not be lawful for any person to allow his, her or their
stock of any kind, including horses, mules, cattle, goats and swine or
geese, to go at large unattended in the village of Lansdowne. The metes
and bounds of the village of Lansdowne shall be deemed and taken to be
as follows: Being bounded on the west by the Hammoud's Ferry Road,
on the north by a road known as the Mine Bank Road, said to be twenty
feet wide, extending from the Hammond Ferry Road to the property of
the Whittaker estate; on the east by the property of the Whittaker estate,
Mt. Zion's Cemetery and Gitting's estate, and on the south by property
known as the Strausbaugh estate and the ore road leading through said
property.

482. Any person who may find any horse, mule, cattle, goats, swine
or geese going at large and unattended by a keeper in said village may
impound the same or report the fact to some constable or deputy sheriff,
who shall impound same, under the penalty of two dollars for each head
of stock or lot of geese he may neglect to impound, upon information
given him; and the constable or other person impounding any stock or
geese shall, within twenty-four hours after impounding, post up in at
least three public places within the limits above prescribed a written
or printed description of the stock, goats, swine or geese impounded, which
written description shall contain a notice that if the owner of the same
does not claim them within five days from the date of posting such notice
the stock or geese impounded will be sold to pay costs of impounding and
damages.

483. If the owner of any stock or geese impounded shall claim the
same before a sale thereof such owner shall pay to the person impound-
ing one dollar for each horse, mule, hog, goat or head of cattle and each
lot of geese containing two or more as a fee for the person impounding
and one dollar per head for each day or part of day they may have been
kept and all costs of advertising; and in default of paying the same, or
if the owner does not claim the stock or geese impounded within five days
from the time of posting the notice aforesaid, it shall be lawful for the
person impounding to sell the stock, swine or geese impounded, for cash,
at public sale, within said limits, upon giving four days' notice of the
time and place of sale by written or printed bills, to be posted in at least
five public places within the above described limits: and from the pro-
ceeds of such sale to deduct the costs and charges hereinbefore allowed,
the costs of sale and the penalties prescribed in the succeeding section,
and the balance of the sale, if there be any, shall be paid over to the owner
