5298 ARTICLE 24.

1914, ch. 182. 1920 Code, sec. 354.

273. The provisions of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland
now in force or hereafter enacted, applicable to collectors of State and
County taxes, except when the same are repealed by or inconsistent with
the provisions of this Act, shall be held to apply to the Treasurer of said
County, who, as to his power, rights, duties and liabilities, both civil and
criminal and those affecting his bond or bondsmen shall be in all respects
in the same position as State and County Collectors of Taxes, except as
herein provided.

274. The Treasurer shall at least once in each year correct the list
of transfers on the tax books of the county, in accordance with the list
furnished by the Clerk of the Circuit Court for said county, this correc-
tion to be made not exceeding thirty days before the time set for the mak-
ing of the annual levy.

1914, ch. 182. 1920 Code, sec. 356.

275. This Act shall take effect from the first day of April in the year
1915; and the said County Commissioners for Worcester County shall
on or before the said first day of April, 1915, appoint some person eligible
and qualified for election as County Treasurer under the provisions hereof
who shall be the County Treasurer of Worcester County, and who shall
serve as County Treasurer aforesaid until the first day of January, 1916;
or until the County Treasurer duly elected by the qualified voters of Wor-
cester County at the General Election in November, 1915, shall qualify;
and the person so appointed by the County Commissioners as aforesaid
shall (except as to the duration of his term of office) be subject to all the
provisions of this Act; and provided that nothing herein contained is in-
tended or shall be construed to affect, interfere with, or defeat any of the
liabilities, powers and duties of the Collectors of Taxes holding office as
collectors in Worcester County at the time of or before the said first day
of April, 1915; or any of the proceedings instituted by the collectors of
the several districts for the collection of taxes levied prior thereto.

276. Power is hereby given to said County Commissioners to adopt
such plans of said Court House and Jail as they shall deem expedient and
proper, which Court House shall,in part, consist of a room for the Clerk
of the Court and the records connected with his office; a room for the
Register of Wills and Orphans' Court and the records connected with paid
office; a room for the County Commissioners and the records connected
with said office; a room for the Board of School Commissioners and the
records connected with said office; a room for the County collector; a
room for the Sheriff; a Court Room for holding sessions of Court; a room
for the Grand Jury; a room for the Petit Jury; a room for the Court
library; and a room for the Judges; and which Jail shall have at least
