TAXES.

1927, ch. 526.

480. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County .are hereby
authorized and empowered to appoint two capable and discreet persons in
each of the election districts of said county to assess real, personal and
mixed property in said county; their compensation for performing their
services shall be eight dollars ($8.00) per day, which is to be paid by the
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County.*

1927, ch. 40.

481. The Com missioner of, Motor Vehicles is hereby authorized and
directed to refuse to issue or transfer any plate or marker, certificate of
registration or title for any motor vehicle unless he is satisfied that all
taxes due and in arrears thereon have been paid. This section is only ap-
plicable to applications made for motor vehicles owned in Anne Arundel
County, and provided that this section shall apply only in the case of
taxes becoming due and in arrears in the year 1927 and thereafter.

TOBACCO.

1918, ch. 194, sec. 1.

482. Any person or persons wishing to engage in the business of buy-
ing and selling leaf tobacco (meaning stripped tobacco and tied in small
bundles) in Anne Arundel or the adjoining counties, before doing so shall
first obtain a license from the Clerk of the Court for the county in which
he or they reside, said license to cost twenty-five dollars, and fifty cents
Clerk's fee. Failure to obtain said license before engaging in said busi-
ness, the person or persons so engaged shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor and upon conviction therefor, shall be fined not less than one
hundred dollars ($100.00), nor more than two hundred dollars ($200.00),
or be imprisoned in jail for not less than three (3) months, nor more than
six (6) months.

1918, ch. 194, sec. 2.

483. Any landlord wishing to sell any leaf tobacco in Anne Arundel or
the adjoining counties raised or grown upon his or her farm by a tenant
who works said farm for a share in crops, grown, shall before doing so
obtain a written permission from the tenant, and likewise, any tenant
wishing to sell any leaf tobacco grown and raised as aforesaid, shall before
doing so obtain a written permission from the landlord or his or her
agent; in either case the permission, shall accompany the tobacco to be
