516 ARTICLE 2.

hundred ($2,500) dollars, payable monthly; and it shall be unlawful for
the said State's Attorney to receive, or the County Commissioners to pay
him, any other or further compensation, salary, or fee of any kind what-
soever, except as hereinafter provided.

471. The County Commissioners are hereby directed to allow the

State's Attorney, for his office expenses, an amount not to exceed twelve

hundred ($1,200) dollars per year; and shall require of the State's Attor-

ney an itemized statement of his expenses under oath before paying the

same.

472. Authority is vested in the State's Attorney for Anne Arundel
County, whenever, in his discretion, it will be to the interest of the public,
to order, with the approval of the Court, the Clerk of the Circuit Court
for Anne Arundel County, to issue summons for witnesses to testify be-
fore him, the said State's Attorney, as to any matter relating to crime
committed in Anne Arundel County; such summons shall be directed to
the sheriff of the county, who is authorized and required to serve such pro-
cess in like manner as if the same issued directly from a court of law;
witnesses summoned and testifying before the State's Attorney, may be
allowed a fee, not to exceed the per diem allowed witnesses in equity cases.

473. When any person is summoned to testify before the State's Attor-
ney, and shall refuse or neglect to obey the said summons, the State's
Attorney may apply to the court, who shall forthwith issue an attachment
directed to the sheriff against the person named, compelling such wit-
nesses to attend and testify before the State's Attorney, returnable on such
day as may be named in said attachment.

474. Authority is vested in the State's Attorney to take the testimony
of any witness before him, whether summoned or otherwise, under oath,
to be administered by the State's Attorney in the same form and manner,
and in all respects to have the same effect as witnesses are obligated in
courts of law.

475. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to have running at
large any horse, mule, cow, calf, horned cattle, sheep or swine in the
Third Election District of Anne Arundel County, and in the Second Elec-
tion District of Anne Arundel County; or for any person to have running
at large swine in the Fifth Election District of Anne Arundel County.
