for municipal purposes, and the assessment for town purposes, shall be
the same as that for State and county purposes; and in case any real estate
assessed for State and county purposes be divided by the town boundaries,
the Burgess and Commissioners shall place a fair valuation upon that con-
tained within the town limits and make a just apportionment of said
assessment; should any property liable to be taxed for town purposes, be
omitted in the county assessment, the Burgess and Commissioners shall
have power to include said property in the town assessment, and impose a
just valuation thereon.

599. The burgess shall be the treasurer of the corporation., and shall
give bond to the same, with security to be approved by the commissioners,
in such penalty as they shall prescribe, conditional for the faithful per-
formance of his duties as treasurer; and he shall receive and pay out all
monies and make a public report at the end of his year of office, according
to the ordinances of the corporation.

600. The said corporation shall not at any time issue any note, cer-
tificate or other device, to be circulated as currency.

601. The burgess and commissioners may take up and impound any
stock running at large in said town, whether belonging to the citizens of
the said town or not, under such regulations as they may prescribe: and
the sheriff of Washington county shall receive and safe keep in the jail
of said county, all persons who shall be committed by the burgess and
commissioners to said jail for a breach or a violation of any of the ordi-
nances of the said corporation, according to the time of commitment, and
in the same manner and under the same regulations as persons committed
for a violation of the laws of this State.

602. The Burgess and Commissioners shall have power to regulate,
license and tax all hackney carriages, omnibuses or other vehicles used
in said town for the carriage of passengers for hire, and also all vehicles
used for the carriage or transportation of freight or merchandise for hire,
and all carts or other vehicles which ply for hire.

603. For the enforcement of such ordinances as may be passed by the
Burgess and Commissioners of Keedysville, the Burgess shall be and is
hereby constituted the police justice of said Keedysville and for the en-
forcement of said ordinances shall have all the powers, privileges and im-
munities conferred by law upon a justice of the peace. He shall be fur-
nished with copies of the ordinances of the town, and shall keep a docket
for corporation cases, and therein record and make regular entries of
