said ordinance shall provide for a general registration of the qualified
voters of the Town of Hancock, on the last Monday in March of the year
1915, and a registration of all new voters, and a correction and revision
of the registration list on the last Monday in March of every year there-
after.

483. If during the year for which they were elected the burgess and,
assistant burgess or any "of the commissioners shall die, resign, remove,
or shall fail or refuse to qualify, or remove from the town of Hancock
or be otherwise disqualified or misplaced before the expiration of the term,
for which he was elected, then a majority of the remaining officers shall
have the power to fill the vacancy by appointment, the person so appointed
to hold office until the next annual election, at which a person shall be
elected to serve the unexpired portion of the term.

484. At all elections the persons who receive the highest number of
votes for the respective offices voted for shall be declared duly elected,
and if at any election any two or more persons shall have an equal number
of votes, by which no choice shall be made, a second election shall be held
after not less than ten days' notice, and so on until a choice be made.

485. The burgess and commissioners may meet as often as occasion,
requires, but not less than once in every month, and the burgess shall pre-
side at all meetings and give the casting vote, and the assistant burgess,
in the absence of the burgess, shall preside at such meetings and under
the same restrictions; and when the burgess is present the assistant burgess
shall have the same power as a commissioner.

486. The Burgess, by virtue of his office shall see that the ordinances
of the town are faithfully executed and shall report to the Commissioners
at its first meeting after each annual election the condition of the munici-
pal affairs; the Burgess shall issue all licenses provided by the ordinances
of the Burgess and Commissioners, and pay over the same to the Treas-
urer at such times as may be provided by ordinance of the Burgess and
Commissioners.

487. The Burgess, Assistant Burgess and Commissioners shall each
qualify as such before a Justice of Peace or a Notary Public, for Wash-
ington County, making oath that they will discharge the duties of their
respective offices, according to the best of their skill and judgment, with
out fear, favor or partiality to any person; a copy of which oath, with
a certificate of the Justice of the Peace or Notary Public administering
the same, shall be entered upon the Journal of the Corporation; and the
