ELECTION DISTRICTS.

P. L. L., 1888, Art 22, sec. 122. 1860, Art. 21, sec. 91.

171. Washington County is divided into twenty-three* election districts,
according to their present names, bounds and limits, and all elections for
public officers shall be held in the said districts, at the places therein here-
tofore established by law for that purpose.

172. The County Commissioners shall have power and authority to
create new election districts in addition to those already established, when-
ever, in their judgment, the convenience of the voters of the county or any
part thereof will thereby be promoted; and shall also have power to
abridge or enlarge any districts heretofore established by the Legislature
or which may hereafter be established by said commissioners; and shall
have the further power to designate the places of holding the election polls
in all election districts.

seded this section.

173. There is hereby created and established a new election district in
Washington County, Maryland, to be known as the Halfway Election Dis-
trict, or Election District Number Twenty-six of said Washington County,
and to be formed of parts of Election Districts Numbers Three and!
Twenty-four, two of the Hagerstown Election Districts, and Election Dis-
trict Number Two, Williamsport Election District, and Election District
Number Ten, Funkstown Election District, and the polling place of said
new election district shall be in the village of Halfway.

174. The new election district so as to be created and established shall
be within the following metes and bounds and practically by the following
courses, that is to say: Beginning at the point where the public road lead-
ing from Funkstown to what was until recently the Hagerstown and Wil-
liamsport Turnpike Road crosses what was until recently the Hagerstown
and Downsville Turnpike Road, then following said Hagerstown and
Downsville Turnpike Road in a southwesterly direction to the farm of
Emily Beckley at a point where the public road running from said Hagers-
town and Downsville Turnpike Road to said Hagerstown and Willams-
port Turnpike Road "leaves said Hagerstown and Downsville Turnpike
Road," then following said public road all the way through to the point
where it meets said Hagerstown and Williamsport Turnpike Road at the
farm of Edward G. Doub, then following said Hagerstown and Williams-
port Turnpike Road to the public road running by the Samuel B. Loose
farm, then following said public road in a northernly direction by the old
