4722 ARTICLE 22.

1892, ch. 384, sec. 82.

130. The said commissioners may appoint a collector (to which office
the burgess is eligible), to collect said taxes, and the term of said collector
is to expire one year from the appointment, or until his successor be ap-
pointed. The said commissioners shall fix his responsibility and com-
pensation.

1892, ch. 384, sec. 83.

131. Whenever the commissioners shall levy a tax, they shall cause
to be made out an alphabetical list of the persons to be charged therewith,
and shall cause to be affixed thereto the respective sums to be collected from
each person, and a warrant to the collector to collect the same.

1892, ch. 384, sec. 84.

132. The collector appointed by the commissioners may enforce the
payment of corporation taxes in the same manner and with like effect
as collectors of State and county taxes may enforce the payment of State
and county taxes.

1892, ch. 384, sec. 85.

133. The collector shall make all collections required of him, and pay
the same to the treasurer in six months from the time the tax is placed
in his hands, and which said treasurer shall hold, together with all moneya
received by him, subject to the order of the commissioners.

1892, ch. 384, sec. 86.

134. The said commissioners may pass all ordinances not contrary to
the laws of this State, necessary to give effect and operation to the powers-
vested in them, and in the absence of ordinances, the law of the county
shall be the law of the town.

1892, ch. 384, sec. 87.

135. All fines and penalties shall be for the use of said town.*

136. It shall not be lawful to sell or purchase stone coal in said county
by measure, but all stone coal sold and purchased in said county shall be
sold and purchased by weight, at the rate of twenty-two hundred and
forty-two pound avoirdupois to the ton.

137. It shall be unlawful for any person in Washington County to sell
cocaine or any preparation the principal ingredient of which is cocaine;
