nothing contained in this Act shall preclude the said Police Justice from
trying criminal cases which arise in any other precinct or district of said!
County if the same shall be properly brought before him.

283. The said Police Justice shall receive for his services the sum of
One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars per year or the proportionate part there-
of, so long as he shall continue to act as such Police Justice, said salary to
be paid by the County Commissioners for Talbot County in equal quarterly
installments and shall be paid in full compensation for services required
of him under this Act; and no Justice of the Peace so selected for Police
Justice shall be permitted to charge any fee or receive any gratuity for
making any commitment, granting any release or for the performance of
any duty required by law in criminal cases or when acting as coroner;
but the said County Commissioners shall in no case pay the aforesaid
salary until the said Police Justice shall at first file with the County
Commissioners of Talbot County his quarterly report, verified by oath or
affirmation, accounting for all fines, forfeitures and penalties imposed by
him under the laws of this State or any ordinances of the Town of Oxford,
which said report shall show the names of the parties, the fines and
penalties imposed, together with the amount of costs, and to whom said
costs were due, and the said Police Justice shall at the time of filing said
report and as a part of said report pay over to the said County Commis-
sioners the amount of all fines, penalties, forfeitures so received by him
which shall be applied by the County Commissioners to the payment of
all fees in criminal cases chargeable against said County Commissioners;
provided that all fines or penalties imposed for violation of any ordinances,
of the Town of Oxford shall be paid over to the Commissioners of said
town.

284. If any Justice of the Peace so selected to act as said Police Jus-
tice of the Third Election District of the Third Election Precinct of said
County is unable, by reason of sickness, absence, relationship or other
temporary cause, to attend to his duties as such Police Justice, it shall be
the duty of the State's Attorney of said County to designate and require
another Justice of the Peace to perform the duties of said Police Justice
so sick, absent or otherwise unable to perform the duties of his office so
long as the same may be necessary, and the State's Attorney shall forth-
with certify any selection he may make to the County Commissioners for
Talbot County. The Justice so required to temporarily perform the said
duties as Police Justice shall receive the same compensation as is now
allowed by law to Justices of the Peace for like services and shall be paid
by the said County Commissioners and deducted from the salary of the
Police Justice for whom he is serving, and in the event of the death,
removal, resignation or disqualification of said Police Justice said vacancy
shall be filled by selection and designation by the Governor of this State.
