with the amount of costs, and to whom said costs were due, and the said
Police Justice shall at the time of filing said report, and as a part of
said report, pay over to said County Commissioners the amount of all
fines, penalties, forfeitures, Justices' and State's witnesses costs so re-
ceived by him, to be appropriated by the County Commissioners to the
payment of all fees in criminal cases chargeable against said County
Commissioners, provided that all fines or penalties imposed for violation
of any ordinance of the town of St. Michaels shall be paid over to the
Commissioners of said town.

281. If any Justice of the Peace so selected to act as said Police Jus-
tice for the Second Election District of said county, is unable by reason
of sickness, absence, relationship or any other temporary cause whatever
to attend to his duties as such Police Justice, it shall be the duty of the
State's Attorney for said county to designate and require another Justice
of the Peace to perform the duties of said Police Justice so sick, absent
or otherwise unable to perform the duties of his office so long as the same
may be necessary, and the State's Attorney shall forthwith certify any
selection he may make to the County Commissioners of Talbot County.
The Justice so required to perform said duties as Police Justice shall
receive the same compensation prescribed for said Police Justice, and
shall be paid by the said County Commissioners, who shall deduct the
same from the salary of the Police Justice for whom he was serving.

282. It shall be the duty of the Governor, in appointing the Justice
of the Peace provided by Section 269 of said Local Laws for Election
District No. 3, to appoint two of said Justices of the Peace for the first
and second precincts and two for the third precinct of said Election Dis-
trict, and it shall be the duty of the Governor, after the appointment of
said Justices of the Peace to select and designate one of the Justices of
the Peace so appointed for the third precinct of the Third Election Dis-
trict of Talbot County, who shall be known and designated as Police
Justice, and the said Police Justice shall have the same jurisdiction in
criminal cases as Justices of the Peace now possess and which may here-
after be conferred upon them by and under the laws of this State, but
shall have no civil jurisdiction, but shall have jurisdiction in and perform
the duties of the Coroner; and the said Police Justice shall have exclusive
jurisdiction in and shall be required to try and determine all violations
of criminal laws and to perform all of the duties of the Coroner which
shall arise in said Election Precinct No. 3, in said Third Election District,
according to the present boundaries of said precinct, and all violations of
the ordinances of the Town of Oxford, subject, however, to the same right
of election to be tried by a Jury, notice of which must be clearly given
by the said Police Justice to the parties before trial, and subject to the
same right of appeal as now exists under the law; provided, however, that
