1906, ch. 458, sec. 97N.

210. The Mayor and Council shall have full power over the streets,
lanes and alleys of Easton and may grant franchises for the use of the
same upon such terms as may be beneficial to the interests of the town;
they may exact license from and regulate the use thereof by persons for the
sale, barter or exchange of any articles or who are engaged in hiring
vehicles of any description, or with them, are engaged in transporting
merchandise or other articles, or passengers from point to point, for profit,
the amount of such licenses to be governed by the number and character
of the vehicles used.

211. The room in the town building on Harrison street shall be known
and used as the Council room, provided, however, the Mayor and Council,
by ordinance or resolution, may provide, designate and use any other room
in the town of Easton as a City Hall and Council room.

212. All laws or parts of laws inconsistent with the provisions of this
Act are hereby repealed so far as the same affect the provisions of this Act.

1906, ch. 458, sec. 97R.

213. Each person elected or appointed to any office of honor, profit or
trust under the government of the town of Easton shall before assuming
the duties of his office take and subscribe in a book prepared for the
purpose the following oath or affirmation: I ————— do swear (or affirm)
that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and that I
will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the State of Maryland and
support the Constitution and laws thereof, and that I will, to the best of
my skill and judgment, diligently and faithfully, without partiality or
prejudice, execute the office of ———— according to the Constitution and
laws of this State. I further swear (or affirm) that since the adoption
of this charter I have not at any town election in any manner, directly
or indirectly, violated the provisions of said charter and the Constitution
and laws of the State of Maryland in relation to bribery of voters.

214. The town attorney shall be the legal adviser of the Mayor and
of the Council, shall prosecute and defend all suits in which the town is
interested, and shall perform such other duties and receive such compensa-
tion as the Mayor and Council shall prescribe; and he shall be a member
of the board of health as in this Act provided.

1906, ch. 458, sec. 97U.

215. The Mayor and Council may provide by ordinance for the exten-
sion of the boundaries of the town, but such ordinance shall not become
operative unless same shall receive a majority vote of the qualified voters
of the town voting at a special or general election.
