2. They may acquire and hold any lands or tenements not exceeding

3. They may use a common seal, and may change the same at their

4. Said trustees shall be five in number, and shall be appointed by
the county commissioners, on the first Tuesday in April, of every second
year, accounting from the year eighteen hundred and sixty-eight; and as
often as any one of them shall die, resign, remove from the county or
become incapable of acting, the county commissioners, at their first meeting
thereafter, shall appoint a suitable person in his place.

5. The persons so appointed, before acting as trustees, shall severally
take and subscribe, before the clerk of the circuit court for Talbot county,
the following oath: "I, ———, do swear that I will duly and faithfully

6. Said trustees shall hold their office until their successors are ap-
pointed and qualified.

7. They shall meet at the almshouse in said county between the first
and tenth of May in each year, and appoint a fit person to be overseer of
said almshouse, and such other proper officers as they may think necessary.
