448 ARTICLE 2.

GERMANTOWN AND VICINITY

1906, ch. 558, sec. 130D. 1914 Code, sec. 241.

295. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County shall ap-
point one policeman for the protection of persons and property in Anno
Arundel County; such policeman shall be stationed at Germantown, in
the Second Election District of said county. The appointment shall be
made immediately after the passage of this Act, and the person so ap-
pointed shall serve until the first day of January, 1908, and until his
successor is duly appointed, and thereafter such appointment shall be
made every two years on the first day of January, or as soon thereafter
as possible. The said County Commissioners shall have power to suspend
such policeman without pay, or remove him at pleasure and to appoint
another officer in his place.

296. It shall be the duty of said policeman at all times to preserve the
public peace, prevent crimes being committed, protect the rights of per-
sons and property, to arrest all offenders against the laws of the State,
and to this end he shall have all the powers and authority of county con-
stables, and shall receive no other pay or fee other than his monthly salary
for doing criminal work.

297. The policeman so appointed shall be paid one hundred dollars
per month, and the County Commissioners in making the annual levy
shall provide for the pay of the said officer monthly, payable in cash or
by levy, equivalent to cash. It shall be the duty of said Commissioners
to arm and equip said officer, and to make such rules and regulations for
his proper conduct and discipline.

GLENBURNIE.

1924, ch. 105.

298. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County may ap-
point a caretaker and chauffeur for the Fire Department of Glenburnie
at a salary of $80 (eighty dollars) per month, and they shall fix his term
and duties, and the amount required to defray said salary shall be levied
upon the assessable property in the Third Precinct of the Fifth District
of Anne Arundel County.
