resident in said town, to be dealt with as hereinbefore provided, any per-
son found breaking the peace or disturbing the quiet and order of said
town, or violating any of the ordinances made for securing the safety of
the property or the lives of the inhabitants of said town; and he shall
have power to summon any of the inhabitants of said town to assist him
when he deems it necessary.

408. In addition to the powers conferred upon "The Commissioners

of Sudlersville," by laws heretofore passed, The Commissioners of Sud-
lersville shall have power to contract with any firm, corporation, individual
or group of individuals for such period of time as the Commissioners of
Sudlersville may by ordinance provide for the introduction into the town

of Sudlersville of gas pipes, electric wires or conduits, electric power poles
for the purpose of supplying gas or electricity for the use of the residents
of the town of Sudlersville, or to light the streets, lanes and alleys of
said town, and by ordinance to grant franchises to any such firm, cor-
porations, individuals or group of individuals to lay pipes, string wires,
place conduits and erect electric power poles for the purpose of supplying

said town and the residents thereof with gas or electricity; and the ordi-
nance, ordinances or contracts granting such franchise or franchises shall

specifically set out the nature, right or character of the same, and no power
or right not expressed in the franchise or grant shall pass thereunder.

409. The Commissioners of Sudlersville shall have power to regulate
the erection and use of gas pipes, electric wires, conduits and electric light
poles within the limits of the town of Sudlersville; and no firm, corpora-
tion, individual or group of individuals shall use any street, lane, alley
or thoroughfare of said town for any gas pipes, electric wire conduits,

electric power poles or lines without the consent of the Commissioners
of Sudlersville first had and obtained, by ordinance for that purpose
passed and approved; and any gas pipes, electric wiring conduits, electric
power poles or lines hereinafter placed upon, in or under any of the streets,
lanes, alleys or thoroughfares of said town without such consent of the
Commissioners of Sudlersville shall be deemed a nuisance.*

410. The County Commissioners of Queen Anne's County are hereby

authorized and directed, on or before the first Monday in February, in the
year nineteen hundred and fifteen, and annually on said day in each year
thereafter, to pay over to the Commissioners of Sudlersville, a municipal

corporation of said county, out of taxes collected from the county levy
made the year preceding, a sum of money equal to one-tenth of one per

centum of the total amount of assessed property, real and personal, sub-
ject to taxation by the said Commissioners of Sudlersville, according to
