shall be named in the same manner as the original appointments were
made. Any vacancy occurring at any time in the personnel of the Com-
mission shall be filled by the agency making the original appointment
and for the unexpired term. The annual salary of the Chairman of said
Commission shall be three thousand dollars, and of one of said Commis-
sioners, not from the same County as the Chairman, forty-eight hundred
dollars, and for the third Commissioner two thousand dollars, all payable
monthly. The Chairman and the Commissioners to receive forty-eight
hundred dollars shall be designated by the Governor and the Commis-
sioner so designated to receive forty-eight hundred dollars shall give all
of his time and attention to the duties of his office, shall supervise and
superintend the outside operations of said Commission, and shall perform
such other duties as the Commisaion shall from time to time designate.
The Commission shall appoint, discharge at pleasure, and fix the com-
pensation of a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Chief Engineer, and such engi-
neering, legal, clerical and other force and help as, from time to time,
in its judgment may be deemed necessary to carry out the provisions of
this Act. Said Commission, for the convenience of the citizens of said
district may establish an office at a convenient place in the District of
Columbia and all acts, regulations or orders passed in the District of
Columbia by said Commission shall have the same force and effect, as if
passed by said Commission when sitting in the Sanitary District; and all
acts, orders and regulations heretofore passed by said Commission while
sittiug in the District of Columbia are hereby ratified and confirmed and
are to be given the same- force and effect as if passed in the State of
Maryland. Said Commission shall annually publish in at least one news-
paper iu Montgomery County, and one in Prince George's County a full
and true account of its receipts, expenses and expenditures. Prior to said
publications said accounts shall be fully audited by the State Auditor of
the State of Maryland, who shall be paid such compensation by the Com-
mission as is paid the Auditor for auditing other State accounts; pro-
vided, however, said Commission may in addition to said State Audit
emplov a certified public accountant to audit its books and accounts. Said
Commission shall always keep available and open to public inspection dur-
ing business hours, at its principal office, a detailed audit and financial
statement of its accounts.

1016. The members of said Commission shall be a body corporate by
the name of the "Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission," with the
right to use a common seal, to sue and be sued, and to do any and all
other corporate acts for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of
this Act. In the event of a judgment at law or in equity being recovered
against said Commission or for the purpose of amicably adjusting threat-
ened or pending litigation, the Commission shall at the annual tax levying
period of the respective County Commissioners next succeeding the rendi-
tion of said judgment or compromise certify to said County Commissioners
