203. The County Commissioners of Montgomery County, upon the
recommendation of the Treasurer, shall appoint two Assistant Treasurers,
one of whom shall receive an annual salary of $2,100, payable in monthly
installments of $175.00, and the other shall receive an annual salary of
$1,800.00, payable in monthly installments of $150.00 and shall furnish
such additional clerical assistants and at such compensation as the County
Commissioners may in their discretion, deem necessary; and all assistants-
and all clerks so appointed, shall take the oath of office prescribed by the
constitution of this State and shall execute such bond or bonds as the
County Commissioners may require; the premium on said bonds to be
levied for and paid out of County Funds by the County Commissioners.
That the. Assistant Treasurer or Treasurers, so appointed, or either of
them, shall, upon the written authority of the County Treasurer, do and
perform any act or acts which could be legally performed by the Treas-
urer. That the Assistant Treasurer or Treasurers, so appointed, may be
required by the said Treasurer to do any and all work in relation to the
assessment, transfer and tax records of the County at any time during
the year and it shall be the duty of the Treasurer to assist and require the
said Assistant or Assistants and clerks to aid in the preparation or revision
of the assessments and transfers each year and in transcribing and record-
ing such matters, including the mailing of notices, so that a proper and
efficient system may be maintained in said office and the system of records
between the office of the County Commissioners and of the Treasurer may
be complete and in accord.

204. He shall collect all taxes levied by the County Commissioners,
and shall receive all moneys due to said county from any source whatever,
and shall disburse the same under the provisions of law and the order of
the County Commissioners. It shall be his duty to promptly deposit all
moneys and receipts by him collected in some bank or banks, or banking
institution or institutions of Montgomery County, and it shall be oblig-
atory upon said Treasurer to prefer, in selecting such place or places of
deposit, the bank or institution, or banks or institutions which shall agree
to pay two per cent, upon monthly balance of such deposit over such as
may not be willing to pay such interest.

205. He shall, as soon as the annual levy is made, give notice thereof
by advertisement in two newspapers, published in Montgomery County,
which notice shall state the time from which taxes bear interest, and shall
warn all taxpayers of their liability, to be published as delinquent tax-
payers and to have their property sold unless the taxes with which they
are charged are paid on or before the first day of January then next ensu-
ing. He shall also, immediately after the levy is made, make out the bill
