3308 ARTICLE 16.

eeeding in all, in any one year, ten cents on the One Hundred Dollars of
the taxable property therein; or said Citizens' Committee may pay said
encumbrance as aforesaid, and the purchase price for the balance of said
Block 37 aforesaid, out of the money or moneys derived from assessments,
on said taxable property for the upkeep of said village, if in the judgment
of said Citizens' Committee the same can be done without detriment there-
to; which taxes, if so levied for the purposes in this Act provided, the
treasurer of said county be and he is hereby authorized and directed to
collect, as other taxes are collected and pay the same over to the treasurer
of Chevy Chase, as other moneys are directed by said Act to be paid by
him.

98. Said Chevy Chase Citizens' Committee, in its discretion, is hereby
authorized and empowered to create a sinking fund out of the rentals re-
ceived from the United States for the use and occupation of said Library
and Postoffice building, or the revenues derived from taxes levied, or to
be levied, upon property within the special taxing area aforesaid for the
purpose of providing the necessary moneys with which, from time to time,
to pay the interest on said indebtedness, and to pay the principal thereof,
or such portion of said principal as may be deemed advisable in the judg-
ment of said Chevy Chase Citizens' Committee.*

99. And, for the purpose of further providing the necessary moneys
with which to pay the interest on said indebtedness, as well as the prin-
cipal thereof upon maturity, the Board of County Commissioners of Mont-
gomery County are hereby authorized and empowered to levy, in addition
to the tax provided for in the Acts of the General Assembly approved
April 16, 1914 (Chapter 610, Laws 1914), and Act approved April 18,
1916 (Chapter 697, Laws 1916), such tax or taxes on the taxable prop-
erty within said special taxing area, as may be recommended by said Chevy
Chase Citizens' Committee, not exceeding in all in any one year ten cents
on each one hundred dollars of taxable property therein, or said Citizens'
Committee may pay the interest on said indebtedness, or so much of the
principal thereof as in its judgment may be deemed advisable out of the
money or moneys derived from assessments on said taxable property for
the maintenance and upkeep of said village, if in the judgment of said
Citizens' Committee the same can be done without detriment thereto;
which taxes, if so levied for the purposes aforesaid, as provided in this
Act, the Treasurer of said county be and he hereby is authorized and
directed to collect, as other taxes are collected, and pay the same over to
the Treasurer of Chevy Chase as other moneys are, by the Act of the
General Assembly, approved April 16, 1914, directed to be paid to him.

*Sec. 1, ch. 237, 1924, authorized the Chevy Chase Citizens' Committee to issue
$25,000 of bonds for Library and Post Office Building.
