to cedar tree; line 9, south 50 degrees east 182 1/2 perches to a chestnut
tree; line 10, north 54 1/2 degrees east 85 perches to a black oak tree; line
11, north 70 1/2 degrees east 12 perches; line 12, north 74 degrees east

first line; it being the intent of this Act to eliminate lines 3, 4 and 5 as
laid down by said Chapter 256 of the Act of 1904, from the survey then
made.

301. The citizens of said town of the age of twenty-one years or up-
wards who shall possess the qualifications of legally registered voters of
this State, and who shall have resided in said town for the space of 6
months next preceding the date of the election at which they shall offer to
vote, shall on the first Tuesday of May, 1929, and on said day in every
second year thereafter, at such place as shall be selected by the Mayor and
Common Council of Sykesville for the holding of the election, elect one
person, a legal voter of said town, who has resided therein for two years
at least next preceding the election, to be Mayor of said town, who shall
hold his office for 2 years and until his successor shall have been elected
and qualified. And on said first Tuesday of May, 1929, at the same time
and place of the election of the Mayor, the said qualified voters shall elect
six persons, to be Common Councilmen, who shall possess the same quali-
fications as the Mayor of the said town. The three having the highest
number of votes shall serve for a term of 4 years from the date of their
election, and until their successors are duly elected and qualified, and the
3 having the next highest number of votes shall serve for a term of 2 years
and until their successors are duly elected and qualified, and thereafter at
each biennial election for Mayor the qualified voters of said town shall
elect 3 Common Councilmen to serve for a term of 4 years. No person
shall be eligible as Mayor or as Councilman of said town unless he be an
owner in fee simple of real estate in said town in his name to the amount
of at least five hundred dollars, and shall so remain during his term of
office; and his term of office shall terminate upon his removal of residence
from the town limits. Neither the Mayor nor any of the Councilmen shall
during their term of office hold or be interested in any office under the cor-
poration, or be a party, directly or indirectly, to any contract or under-
takings entered into on the part of said town.
