3062 ARTICLE 14.

of the said County Commissioners, the claim shall be a just one, they
shall give an order for the payment of the same according to the schedule
of rates which they shall prescribe therefor, which schedule they shall
have published in some newspaper printed in Howard County for at
least once a week for three successive weeks, before the first day of June,
1914, and before the first day of April each and every year thereafter,
which amounts in the cases of applications for the loss of sheep shall in
no case exceed the value for which said sheep are assessed upon the assess-
ment books of Howard County; and in case any dog shall be known to
have killed any domestic fowls or animals it shall be the duty of any
constable of said County, immediately he shall have notice of such destruc-
tion by credible persons to search for and kill said dog or dogs for which
he shall be paid the sum of one dollar for each dog so killed, by the aaid
County Commissioners, out of the fund known as "the Dog Tax Fund"
for that district; provided, that in case of damage to any person by reason
of loss or injury, to his sheep or turkeys, shall be from any dog belong-
ing to him or any member of his household he or she shall be entitled to
no compensation under this Act; and provided further that the said Coun-
ty Commissioners may allow the costs of appraisement or such proportion
thereof, as in their discretion may be deemed expedient where damages
are allowed; and that they may also allow payment for treatment by the
Pasteur or other treatment, for any person who may be bitten by any
mad dog, cat, horse, or other animal, who is unable to pay for such treat-
ment for himself or herself, if in the judgment of said County Commis-
sioners such payment is justified by the circumstances of the case.*

116. Howard county is divided into six election districts, according
to their present bounds and limits, and all elections for public officers
shall be held in each of said election districts at the places now established
by law for that purpose.

117. The judges and clerks of elections shall each receive three dollars
for each day they shall be engaged in the discharge of their respective
duties.

118. Each Supervisor of Elections for Howard County shall be paid
a salary of two hundred dollars ($200) per year, the said salary to be paid
as provided in Section 2 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
