1916, ch. 680, sec. 181.
201. The Clerk of the Circuit Court for Harford County is hereby
empowered and directed to prepare, and in substantial books, comprehen-
sive indexes to all proceedings in his office affecting titles to land by way
of Commissioners under various Acts of Assembly, and by way of condem-
nations or writs of inquisition, and by way of sales of land under writs of
execution or otherwise, and to record in substantial books all proceedings
of his office, whether at law or in chancery, affecting titles to land and
proper to be recorded, but which have not heretofore been recorded by
former clerks whose duty it was to record the same.

202. The County Commissioners of Harford County are hereby em-
powered and directed as soon as said indexes and records have been com-
pleted and the approval thereof certified to them by one of the judges of
the Circuit Court for Harford County, to pay to said Clerk the cost there-
of, according to the rates fixed by law or heretofore paid for similar work
performed by said clerk.

203. The Clerk of the Circuit Court for Harford County is hereby
empowered and directed to equip his office with such furniture and metallic
and other fixtures as he may determine are necessary and requisite for the
prompt and safe dispatch of the business and protection of the records of
his office, and the proper and easy accommodation of the public, and to
procure from the land office of Maryland copies of all original papers and
proceedings in the high court of chancery affecting titles to land in Har-
ford County; and the said clerk shall securely file and index or record the
same in his office, and shall not permit said original papers and proceed-
ings to be removed from his office except by the judges of said court in
person.

204. In all such causes where the original papers, maps, plats and pro-
ceedings cannot be found, but the same or any part thereof have been
docketed or recorded amongst the records of said high court of chancery,
said clerk be and he is hereby empowered and directed to make complete
searches and copies of said dockets and records, and to file the same in his
office. The copies provided for in this section and Section 203 of this Arti-
cle shall be made by and under the direction of the clerk aforesaid, and no
charge shall be made by the commissioner of the land office for any
searches required to carry out the provisions of this Act, or for any copies
made, unless said copies are made on the request of the clerk aforesaid.

205. The said clerk is hereby further empowered and directed to pre-
pare complete indexes of all bonds filed in his office of trustees or other
