approved by the commissioners, conditioned for the faithful performance

of the duties of his office, which bond shall be recorded in the office of the

clerk of the circuit court for said county.

86. The said clerk shall take and subscribe the following oath before

one of the commissioners: "I, ——————, do swear that as clerk to the

county commissioners of Garrett county, I will honestly and faithfully,
to the best of my skill and judgment, execute the duties of said office

without fear, affection, prejudice or partiality."

87. At the General Election of County officers of Garrett County, to be
held in said County November, 1917,* and every four years thereafter,
a Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners shall be elected by the

qualified voters of said County who shall hold office of Clerk for the term
of four years from the time of his election and qualification or until his
successor is elected and qualified and shall be subject to removal from
said office for any wilful neglect of duty or misbehavior in office at any
time by the County Commissioners of said County, who shall have power
to appoint some competent person for the unexpired term of the Clerk
so removed, said clerk shall be paid for his services the sum of twelve
hundred dollars per annum, payable in monthly instalments of one hun-

dred dollars at the expiration of each and every month by the treasurer

of Garrett County from the funds of said County and the said Clerk shall
have full power to administer an oath or affirmation to any and all per-
sons who are to be examined as witnesses in any matter before the County
Commissioners, and touching or relating to any account, bill or other mat-
ter to be filed in the office of said County Commissioners the said salary

of twelve hundred dollars per annum shall be full compensation for all

services required of said Clerk, who shall keep the office of County Com-
missioners open from nine o'clock in the forenoon until four o'clock in

the afternoon, and who shall attend therein for the transaction of busi-
ness on every day of the week except Sundays and legal holidays.

88. It shall be the duty of the Clerk of the County Commissioners to

mail or deliver all commissions to the Supervisors of Roads, for which

service the Clerk shall not be entitled to make any charge, the same being
made a part of his official duty as Clerk.

89. Before any deed for the conveyance of real estate in Garrett County

shall be received for record by the Clerk of the Circuit Court thereof,
the person offering said deed for record shall submit the same to the Clerk
