surveys made by private surveyors that may be brought to him for record,
in well-bound record books, to be procured by him at his own expense.

735. He shall make out and keep a complete index of all surveys re-
corded, or to be hereafter recorded in his office, in well-bound books to be
procured at his own expense.

736. Whenever so requested, he shall record all surveys made by pri-
vate surveyors upon payment to him at the rate of ten cents for every
hundred words, and shall make copies or abstracts of surveys from his
records whenever the same shall be demanded, upon payment to him of
the like sum of ten cents per one hundred words; provided, that no such
charge shall be made when such copies or abstracts shall be called for by
the circuit court, the orphans' court or the county commissioners.

737. The County Commissioners are authorized and required to pay
to the county surveyor as salary, the annual sum of three hundred dollars,
in quarterly instalments of seventy-five dollars each.

SWINE AND GEESE.

P. L. L., 1888, Art. 11, sec. 440. 1918 Code, sec. 717.

738. No swine or geese belonging to any inhabitant of Creagerstown
shall be allowed to go at large in said town, and if either be found going
at large it shall be the duty of justices of the peace, upon the information
of any citizen of said town, or upon their own personal knowledge of the
same, to have said swine and geese impounded, and they shall charge the
owners one dollar for each swine and twenty-five cents for each goose so
found at large, which charge shall be in the nature of a fine, and shall
retain them until such fines are paid; all emoluments arising from said
fines shall be paid to the trustees of the public schools for the school dis-
trict in which said town is located, for the use of such public schools.

739. Any person may kill any swine or poultry going at large in the-

740. No inhabitant of Liberty, or inhabitant of any small lots of
ground containing less than ten acres of land, lying within a quarter of
a mile of said town, shall raise or keep any swine or geese within said
town, or within a quarter of a mile thereof, except in enclosures; or
suffer any geese or swine to go at large in said town, or within a quarter
of a mile of said town; and any person may kill or impound any swine
or geese so going at large; and if impounded shall immediately give no-
