2644 ARTICLE 11.

official duties connected with the administration of said office, as well as
such duties as may hereafter be required of him by law, the sum of Three
Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) per annum, payable by the County Com-
missioners for Frederick County in semi-annual instalments of Fifteen
Hundred Dollars ($1,500) each, on the thirtieth day of June and the
thirty-first day of December in each and every year; and the salary pro-
vided by this act shall include the compensation of said State's Attorney
for services rendered before the Justices of the Peace in said county, in all
criminal cases, when in the public interest he attends hearings or trials
before said Justices and shall include all advice regarding criminal mat-
ters which he shall give all Justices, or any one else, but his actual ex-
penses incurred in all criminal cases where it is necessary for him to go
outside of Frederick City to attend to shall be paid him in addition to
the salary aforesaid.

731. It shall be the duty of the Sheriff to promptly collect and forth-
with pay over to the County Commissioners for Frederick County, all
appearance or other fees taxed as part of the costs of any criminal case,
after this act takes effect, and the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Frederick
County, after this act becomes effective, in taxing costs in criminal cases
to be paid by the prisoner or traverser, shall include the usual fee, which
shall be paid by the Sheriff aforesaid for the use of the county.

732. The County Commissioners for Frederick County shall annually
levy against the assessable property in Frederick County such sum or sums
of money as may be necessary to carry out and effectuate the purposes of
this act.*

SURVEYOR.

733. Whenever the County Commissioners, under the provisions of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, relating to county commis-
sioners and public and private roads, shall appoint examiners to view
the premises with a view to locate any public or private road, and said
examiners, in pursuance of their duty, shall require the services of a sur-
veyor, such examiner! shall notify the surveyor for said county, whose
duty it shall be to render the service required by said examiners, either in
person or by deputy.

734. The County Surveyor of Frederick County is authorized and re-
quired to make out a complete record of all surveys of land in said county,
now on file in his office, and all surveys made hereafter by him, and all
