FREDERICK COUNTY. 2465

Water Company, in Frederick County, a joint stock water company, for
supplying water to the said town for fire protection, and the erection of
fire plugs therein, and to pay the said water company the sum of seven
dollars and fifty cents per ping, on the third Wednesday of January of
each year therefor, which said fire plugs shall not be less than twenty in
number and shall be furnished, erected and maintained by the said
water company for said purpose at such places in said town, as said
burgess and commissioners shall determine.

184. In order to enable the burgess and commissioners of Emmits-
burg to carry out the provisions of the preceding section, the said burgess
and commissioners are authorized and empowered and directed to levy
annually upon the taxable property within the corporate limits of Em-
mitsburg, in addition to the corporate taxes now allowed by law, a water
tax to be levied and collected the same as other corporate taxes are levied
and collected, but the said water tax so annually levied by the burgess
and commissioners of Emmitsburg shall not exceed eight cents on every
one hundred dollars of assessable property within the corporate limits of
said town.

185. It shall not be lawful for the owner or owners of any horse, cattle,
hogs, or sheep to allow them to pasture or run at large at night time
along the turnpike known as the Frederick and Jefferson turnpike, on
both sides of which is located the village of Feagaville, the limits of the
above prohibition to extend from the second milestone from Frederick,
which is opposite the property now owned by Benjamin Zimmerman, to
the fifth milestone on said pike opposite the property now owned by
Maurice Rhoderick, and on all public roads within a radius of one and
one-half miles from the public school house in Feagaville, Frederick
County, Maryland.

186. For each horse, cow, calf, hog or sheep found running at large or
pasturing upon the above-described turnpike and between and within the.
above-named limits, the owner or owners thereof shall, when adjudged
guilty of the violation of the preceding section, pay a fine of one dollar
($1.00) for each head of such livestock found at large or pasturing be-
tween the above-named limits. And they shall also pay the costs of the
prosecution.

187. Any justice of the peace of Frederick County shall have jurisdic-
tion of any violation of the preceding sections of this subtitle. Any person
