2428 ARTICLE 11.

feet of property binding on such street or streets, lane or lanes, alley or
alleys, or part thereof, shall apply for the same upon terms and conditions
to be prescribed in said general ordinance, and for the assessment in any
such case of the cost of such work, in whole or in part, upon all the prop-
erty binding upon such street or streets, lane or lanes, alley or alleys, or
part thereof, and for the collection of such assessments as other town
taxes are collected. No notice need be given before the passage of such
general ordinance, and said ordinance shall provide for the appointment
of a Commissioner or Commissioners, to determine the amount of assess-
ment to be made upon any such property as provided by said ordinance,
and said Commissioner or Commissioners shall give notice to all persons
interested as required by the preceding section of this Act, before the
amounts assessed against them are fina.lly determined, and either party
feeling aggrieved at the action of said Commissioner or Commissioners
shall have right to appeal, as provided in the preceding section of this
sub-title.

53. Nothing herein contained shall affect or in any manner make in-
valid any of the present ordinances of the Mayor and Council of Bruns-
wick. Nothing in this subtitle shall be construed to release any person
or persons or corporation from the payment of any taxes now owing by
him, her, it, or them to the Mayor and. Council of Brunswick; nothing
herein contained shall affect the tenure of office of the present Mayor
and Council of Brunswick, who, by virtue of their election, shall hold
office until the Mayor and Councilmen herein provided for are duly
elected and qualified, according to the manner and terms prescribed;
nothing herein contained shall be construed to dissolve the corporation
known as the Mayor and Council of Brunswick; and nothing herein con-
tained shall be construed to release any person or persons, corporation or
corporations, from any debt or obligation now due by him, her, it or them
to the said Mayor and Council of Bruus.wick; nothing herein contained
shall affect in any manner whatsoever the rights, actions, choses in action,
suits either at law or in equity, obligations, properties and effects of the
corporation known as the Mayor and Council of Brunswick.

54. In any and all cases where any street, lane or alley, or any part
thereof, in the town of Brunswick, Frederick County, Maryland, has been
improved, graded, paved or curbed, or regraded, repaved, or recurbed,
under any ordinance which provided for assessing the whole, or any por-
tion of the cost of such improvement, upon the property binding on such
street, lane or alley, or any part thereof, and the assessments subsequently
made, or attempted to be made, or any part thereof, remain unpaid, it
shall be lawful for the Mayor and Council of Brunswick to provide by
