2350 ARTICLE 10.

Chester County, or between any two of the said bodies, within the scope
of the powers embraced within the provisions of the preceding sections of
this Act, are ratified and confirmed.

499. The subscription by the said Board of County School Commis-
sioners of Dorchester County, to the stock of the said Cambridge Female
Seminary, whereby the said board became the holders of sixty-nine shares
of the stock of the said seminary, and the action by which it afterwards
reduced its holdings to thirty-six shares, is hereby ratified, confirmed, and
in all respects made valid.

500. Provided, however, that the purchase of the aforesaid sixty-nine
shares of stock of said Cambridge Female Seminary, by said School Com-
missioners of Dorchester County, and i;he contracts mentioned in Sections
496, 497 and 498 of this Article, shall not be ratified, confirmed and made
valid, unless the said School Commissioners shall also purchase the re-
mainder of one hundred and twenty shares, which constitute the whole
of the capital stock of said female seminary, at the par value thereof. But
if said holders of said remaining shares refuse to sell the same to said
School Commissioners, at the price aforesaid, after having been requested
so to do, by said School Commissioners, then, after the expiration of
sixty days from the date of such request, the purchase of the aforesaid
sixty-nine shares and all the other contracts mentioned in Sections 497
and 498 of this Article, shall be legally valid and binding as provided in
said sections.

501. Dorchester, Caroline, Cecil, Howard, Wicomico and Worcester
Counties are exempted from the provisions of Sections 1 and 2 of Article
86 of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Sheep."

SHERIFF.

502. The sheriff of Dorchester County shall not be entitled to receive
more than seventy-five cents at day for keeping and boarding each prisoner;
and the County Commissioners shall make quarterly settlements with the
sheriff, who shall present an itemized account, and shall give him an order
on the county treasurer for all monies found to be due him for the board
and keeping of the prisoners to date.

503. The Commissioners shall annually levy for the use of the sheriff
