respective services in said criminal cases the following fees: For issuing
each State writ, twenty-five cents; for summoning all the witnesses on both
sides in any case, fifty cents; for each trial, one dollar; for every com-
mitment, twenty-five cents; for every release, twenty-five cents; for taking
recognizances in each case reported to the circuit court, twenty-five cents
each; for each attachment for contempt, twenty-five cents.

353. The aforesaid fees of said constables and justices for said counties
shall be taxed against and paid by the party against whom judgment shall
be rendered, unless he be discharged therefrom by due course of law; if
such party against whom judgment is rendered is unable to pay the same,
such fees shall be paid by the county wherein said judgment was ren-
dered; and all fines and penalties received by any justice under the pro-
visions of Section 351 shall be accounted for and wholly paid, without
abatement or deduction therefrom by such justice, to the County Com-
missioners of the county wherein they are collected, for the use of said
county; and no part of any fine or penalty enforced or collected under
said section shall be paid to any informer.

354. That in every criminal case brought before any justice of the
peace for Dorchester County, wherein the defendant is found guilty, upon
confession or trial, and is fined, it shall be the duty of the justice of the
peace to collect the fine at once, and on the first Monday of every month
to make out a list of all the cases in which a fine was imposed, and in
said list he shall give the date of each fine, and he shall credit himself
with every fine which the defendant refused or failed to pay, and was
thereupon ordered to stand committed till fine and costs were paid; and
whenever required by the Treasurer of Dorchester County any such jus-
tice of the peace shall produce before said treasurer his criminal docket;
such justice of the peace shall on the first Monday of every month, as
aforesaid, pay to the Treasurer of Dorchester County the amount of the
fines which he has collected to said date and has not before paid over to
the said treasurer, and all fines received by the said treasurer as afore-
said shall be applied by the County Commissioners toward county ex-
penses in Dorchester County; and if the said justice of the peace refuses
or fails to pay over to the Treasurer of Dorchester County the amount
of such fines collected by him for one month after he is herein required
to pay the same over, he shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and on con-
viction theerof he shall be sentenced to be confined in the county jail for
not more than six months and pay a fine equal to the amount of the
money collected by him and not paid over.

of his office shall give to the State of Maryland a good and sufficient bond,
