and repairing of the public roads of said county.

1904, ch. 261, sec. 11.

256. All bridges to be built or repaired, whose cost shall exceed fifty
dollars, shall be built or repaired by contract by the County Commis-
sioners, and they shall advertise in a newspaiper published in the county
of and by handbills posted at Court House and in vicinity adjacent to
the bridge to be built or repaired, setting forth the place where said bridge
is to be built or repaired, specification for same, and that sealed proposals
will be received up to the day or hour of giving out such contract, and
said contract shall be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder; and upon
the completion of contract the County Commissioners and road super-
visors shall critically examine said bridge, and if said contract has been
fully completed, they shall accept bridge and pay for same; otherwise
the bridge shall be rejected and no pay allowed until the contractor shall
have fully complied with said contract,

1904, ch. 261, sec. 12.

257. It shall be the duty of road supervisor to keep in repair and
build all bridges, the cost of which shall not exceed fifty dollars.

258. It shall be the duty of the County- Commissioners to divide the
amount levied for the repairs, of the public roads into three equal parts,
one part of which shall be used in each election district of said county, as
also all 'amounts devoted to road fund by special legislation, by fines, etc.,
shall be also divided as the annual levy.*

1904, ch. 307.

259. On or before the first Monday in April of each year the Road
Commissioners of Calvert County shall furnish to the Board of County
Commissioners of said county a full and accurate itemized statement of
the receipts and expenditures of all money received by them during the
preceding year for building and keeping in repair the public roads, which
statement shall show to whom and for what purpose said expenditures
were made and the amounts therefor, to be verified by affidavit of some
member of the said Board of Road Commissioners; and the said Board
of County Commissioners shall, on or before the first day of June follow-
ing, cause the statement so furnished them by the said Road Commis-
sioners to be published in the newspaper published in said county which
may have contracted to publish the printing required to be done by the
said County Commissioners as a part of said printing contract.

*Sec. 13A of ch. 261, 1904, repeals all laws inconsistent therewith.
