or persons now on the Force or any clerk or any appointee or any em-
ployee of the Police Commissioner of Baltimore City.

745E. The time spent by any member of the Police Force in military
service during the World War shall be construed as having been spent on
said Police Force for the purpose of determining seniority rating. The
provisions of this section shall only apply to those who were members of
the sadd Police Force when war was declared with Germany, and who
subsequently served and again became members of said Police Force.

745F. The Signal and Telephone Operators in the Police Department
of Baltimore City shall be classified as patrolmen and shall receive such
salaries and compensation as are now or as may hereafter be provided for
in the case of members of the said Police Department having the rating
of patrolmen.

745G. The time spent by any member of the Police Force of Anne
Arundel or Baltimore Counties who became a member of the Police Force
of Baltimore City when Chapter 82 of the Acts of 1918 went into effect
shall be construed as having been spent on the Police Force of said City for
the purpose of determining seniority rating and securing additional com-
pensation.

1920, ch. 429, sec. 745 1/2A.

745H. On and after January 1, 1921, the Police Commissioner for
Baltimore City is hereby authorized to add to the police force of the
City of Baltimore one hundred additional men who shall be appointed,
enrolled, armed and equipped by the Police Commissioner of said city in
the same manner as the present members of said force. The said Com-
missioner shall, in making the said appointments, be governed by the
present law as to the number of men which shall be assigned to the differ-
ent ranks or grades. The members of the police force who shall be ap-
pointed under the provisions of this section shall receive the same com-
pensation which may be provided by law for the same rank or grade of
the present police force of said city.

745-1. There shall be appointed by the Governor, by and with the
advice of the Senate, three sober and discreet persons, who shall be regis-
tered voters of the City of Baltimore, for three consecutive years next
preceding the day of their appointment, who shall be known as the Board
of Police Examiners of Baltimore City. Two of said Examiners shall be
adherents of the two leading parties in the State, one of each of said par-
