exceed the whole amount of said excess paid into the treasury of the

371. The Comptroller of the State of Maryland is hereby directed to
draw a warrant upon the State Treasurer for the payment of the sum of
thirty-five hundred dollars per annum in each year in monthly install-
ments of two hundred ninety-one dollars and sixty-six cents for the
compensation of the trust clerk to be appointed by the Supreme Bench
of Baltimore City, for the supervision of the trust estates in the Circuit
Court and Circuit Court No. 2 of Baltimore City; payment of said salary
to be made out of any money paid by the clerks of the several courts of
Baltimore City into the State Treasury, and on the certificate of some
one of the judges of the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City that such trust
clerk has performed his duties for the time so certified by said judge;
the clerk of the Circuit Court of Baltimore and of the Circuit Court No.
2 of Baltimore City are hereby authorized and directed to appoint a chief
clerk for each of their respective courts, said appointment to be subject
to confirmation by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City; and when said
appointments have been so made and confirmed the Comptroller of the
State of Maryland is hereby directed to draw two warrants upon the
State Treasurer, each for the payment of the sum of thirty-five hundred
dollars per annum in each and every year in monthly installments of two
hundred ninety-one dollars and sixty-six cents at the end of each and every
month for the compensation of each of the two clerks so appointed and
confirmed.

371A. The Clerks of the Baltimore City Court, of the Superior Court
of Baltimore City and the Court of Common Pleas of Baltimore City,
be and they are hereby authorized and. directed to appoint Chief Clerks
for each of their respective Courts, said appointments to be subject to
confirmation by the Supreme Bench of Baltimore City; and when said
appointments have been so made and confirmed, the Comptroller of the
State of Maryland be, and he is hereby, directed to draw three warrants
upon the State Treasurer, each for the payment of the sum of thirty-five
hundred ($3,500) dollars per annum in each year in monthly install-
ments of two hundred and ninety-one dollars and sixty-six cents ($291.66)
at the end of each and every month, for the compensation of each of the
three Chief Clerks of said Courts so appointed and confirmed.
