ARTICLE 74.

PILOTS.

1. Board of examiners a body politic.
2. Board of examiners of Maryland pilots,
of whom composed. Pilots to pay
said board $1,000 to defray expenses.
3. Applicant to be a pilot; must produce
certificate of honesty and good be-
havior.
4. Board to examine each applicant; ap-
pointment and license.
5. Fees.
6. Warrant as first rate pilot.
7. Annual renewal of license.
8. Fees for renewal.
9. First rate license not to be granted to
minor.
10. Board may increase or decrease num-
ber of pilots.
11. Oath of board before examining any
applicant.
12. Pilot not to act unless his company
keeps sufficient pilot boat.
13. Pilot to have license to destined port
of any vessel he demands to pilot;
name of boat to be put on stern,
mainsail and foresail.
14. No person not licensed shall undertake
to pilot any vessel; penalty.

15. Board may make rules; may suspend
or withdraw license.
16. What vessels required to pay pilotage.
17. What vessels exempt.
18. Masters shall take licensed pilot or pay
full pilotage.
19. Money collected under secs. 16 and 17,
ho'w distributable.
20. Special provisions as to masters and
owners of vessels on Pocomoke river
and Eastern shore.

lowed.
23. Pilot absent three years.
24. Pilot refusing to aid vessel in distress.

1. The board of examiners of pilots is a body politic and corporate,
and may appoint a register who shall enter in a book to be provided for
that purpose all applications to and all other proceedings of the said board
and shall countersign all warrants for pilots granted by the board.
