LICENSES. 2041

Livery Stables.

An. Code, sec. 176. 1916, ch. 704, sec. 176.

238. Every person, firm or corporation, who keeps a stable or stalls
in which horses are kept at livery or fed, or at which horses and vehicles
are hired for compensation shall be deemed to keep a livery stable, and
every such person, firm or corporation in this State, shall before trans-
acting such business take out a license therefor for the privilege of con-
ducting such business and paying an annual license fee of $6.00 for each
stable so operated, in the City of Baltimore and in each county of this
State, in which the said livery stable may be located. Provided, however,
this section shall not apply to the keeper of a licensed ordinary or house
of private entertainment who only feeds and cares for the horses of
travelers or guests stopping at such ordinary or house of private enter-
tainment.

Bowling Saloons.

An. Code, sec. 177. 1916, ch. 704, sec. 177. 1920, ch. 504, sec. 177.

239. Each person, firm or corporation who shall keep a saloon for the
reception of company to play at bowls wherein a fee is charged for such
bowling, shall be deemed to keep a bowling saloon, and every person, firm
or corporation who shall keep a bowling saloon, shall, before transacting
such business, pay for the privilege by first taking out a license therefor,
paying an annual license 'fee of $25.00 for the first alley and the addi-
tional sum of $20.00 for each alley exceeding one, said licenses to be
taken out in the City of Baltimore, if such saloons are located in said city,
and if located in the counties, then in each county in which said saloons
may be located.

Storage Warehouses.

240. Every person, firm or corporation who shall keep for compensa-
tion any house for storage or impounding shall pay an annual sum for said
privilege by first taking out a license therefor, if such house be located in
Baltimore City, then in said city, if in the counties, then in the county in
which such house may be located, to be graduated as follows:

In cities not exceeding 10,000 inhabitants.................. $ 30.00

In cities exceeding 10,000 and not over 20,000 inhabitants... 50.00
In cities exceeding 20,000 and not more than 50,000
inhabitants .......................................... 75.00

In cities exceeding 50,000 inhabitants................... 150.0.0

Check Rooms.

An. Code, sec. 179. 1916, ch. 704, sec. 179.

241. Each person, firm or corporation, conducting a check room in
this State for the deposit of packages and baggage shall pay a privilege tax
