2036 ARTICLE 56.

refund of the amount paid for such certificate and markers for the unused
portion of the year calculated on a monthly basis, with no allowance for
fractional portions of a month. On and after January 1, 1924, the .fees
for dealers' tags or markers shall be $25.00 for the first two sets thereof
and $2.00 for each additional set thereof.

224. The Governor of the State is hereby authorized and empowered
to confer and advise with the proper officers of the District of Columbia,
and enter into reciprocal agreement effective on and after January 1, 1924,
under which the registration of motor vehicles owned by the. residents of
this State will be recognized by the District of Columbia, and he is further
authorized and empowered from time to time after January 1, 1924, to
grant to residents of the District of Columbia the privilege of .using the
roads of this State in return for the similar privilege granted residents of
this State by the District of Columbia.

225. If any section, sub-division, sentence or clause in this sub-title
shall, for any reason, be held unconstitutional or void, such decision shall
not affect the validity or meaning of any other portion of this sub-title.

Detective Agencies and Agents.

An. Code, sec. 164. 1916, ch. 704, sec. 164.

226. Every person, firm or corporation, resident or non-resident, main-
taining a private detective agency in this State shall, before acting as
such, take out a license therefor and pay to the Clerk of the Circuit Court
in the County in which such person, firm or corporation may be located,
or to the Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas of Baltimore City, if located
in Baltimore City, the sum of one hundred dollars per annum. Provided,
however, this Section shall not apply to detectives regularly employed by
any State, County or City.

Moving Picture Shows and Carnivals.

227. That for the exhibition by any automatic moving picture ma-
chine, phonograph, graphophone or similar musical machine, except for
benevolent, charitable or educational purposes, where the price of admis-
sion to such exhibition does not exceed the sum of five cents, the following
license fees shall be annually paid:

Places of amusement having a seating capacity of less than
200, each ........................................ $ 30.00

Those having a seating capacity of more than 200 and less
than 300, each......................................... 60.00

Those having a seating capacity of more than 300 and less than
400, each ........................................... 70.00
