title shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof, be fined a sum not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) nor
more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) or imprisoned for a period
of not less than ten days nor more than thirty days, or both fined and-
imprisoned for the first offense.*

159. In addition to the Justices of the Peace provided for in sec-
tion 623 of Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
there shall be appointed by the Governor, by and with the advice and
consent of the Senate, and if the Senate shall not be in session, by the
Governor, from the City of Baltimore at large, an additional Justice
of the Peace, to be known as the Justice of the Peace of the Traffic
Court, who shall be a member of the Bar of the Supreme Bench of
Baltimore City, and who shall receive a salary of twenty-five hundred
dollars ($2,500.00) per annum, payable monthly and shall receive no
other compensation or fees whatever for the performance of any duty
required by law. Said justice shall have exclusive jurisdiction within
the City of Baltimore to hear and determine all complaints of viola-
tions of the Motor Vehicle laws of the State; and shall have exclusive
jurisdiction where jurisdiction is now or may hereafter be given by
law to any Justice of the Peace in Baltimore City to try or commit for
trial any person accused of violating any of the traffic ordinances of
Baltimore City, and shall have concurrent jurisdiction with other Jus-
tices of the Peace, committing Magistrates or Police Justices through-
out the State outside of Baltimore City to hear and determine all com-
plaints of violations of the Motor Vehicle laws of the State in those
cases where it is convenient for the accused to have such complaint
heard and determined in Baltimore City, provided that any person so
accused shall have the right before such trial to order the case removed
for trial before a justice of the peace of the county in which the
alleged offense occurred. The jurisdiction, powers and duties- hereto-
fore vested in and required of other justices of the peace in Baltimore
City under Section 158 of this sub-title shall hereafter be exclusively
vested in and required of the Justice of the Peace of the Traffic Court.
Said Justice shall keep his office in the station-house of the Central
Police District of Baltimore City, and shall attend at such station-
house at such hours and times as may be determined upon by the Board
of Police Commissioners and the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.
Said Justice shall during his sittings at the Central Police Station
transact no other business except the business required of him by the
provisions of this sub-title. The said Justice of the Peace of the Traffic
Court (and any justice who may be designated to sit in his absence)
