two persons, resident of the State of Maryland, as managers of said
sanatorium for a term of six years dating from the first day of May
succeeding their appointment. They shall hold office until their suc-
cessors are appointed and qualified so that there shall always be six
appointed members in the board, and they shall serve without pay. They
shall be chosen with a view to their intelligence, experience and char-
acter, without reference to ecclesiastical or party ties, and the governor
shall also have power, in case of any vacancy occurring in the board from
death, resignation, removal from the State or any other cause, to appoint
a person to fill such vacancy for the balance of the unexpired term of
the manager whose position becomes vacant.*

200. There shall be appropriated for, and the treasurer of the State
upon the warrant of the comptroller shall pay to the managers of the
Maryland Tuberculosis Sanatorium for the purchase of land and the erec-
tion of buildings the sum of fifty thousand dollars for the fiscal year of
1907 and fifty thousand, dollars for the fiscal year of 1908. There shall
be appropriated for, and the treasurer of the State upon the warrant
of the comptroller shall pay to the managers of the Maryland Tubercu-
losis Sanatorium during the fiscal year beginning October first, 1907,
the sum of fifteen thousand dollars, payable in equal quarterly in-
stalments on the first days of January, April. July and October, for
the support of said sanatorium.+

201. Upon the taking effect of this act—to wit, April 12, 1904—
the Maryland State Association of Graduate Nurses shall nominate for
examination twelve of its members who have had not less than five
years' experience in their profession. These nominations shall be sub-
mitted to the governor'of the State, who shall from said number appoint
within sixty days a board of examiners to be composed of five mem-
bers; one of the members of this board shall be designated by the gov-
einor to hold office one year, two for two years, and two for three
years; and hereafter upon the expiration of the term of office of the
person or persons so appointed, the governor shall appoint a successor
to each person or persons to hold office for three years, from a list

|By the act of 1910, ch. 411 (p. 240) a loan of $100,000 was created for provid-
ing additional buildings, equipment, etc., for the Maryland Tuberculosis Sana-
torium. The details of the Issue and sale of the certificates of indebtedness are
provided for, and a tax of one-eighth of one per cent, directed to be levied to meet
the interest, and create a sinking fund—see art. 31, sec. 20, et aeq.
