CHAPTER 647.
AN ACT to add to Article 4, Public Local Laws, entitled "City
of Baltimore," sub-title "Police Commissioners," three new
sections to follow section 745G and to be designated as sec-
tions 745H, 745 I and 745 J.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That three new sections be and the same are hereby added
to Article 4, Public Local Laws, entitled "City of Baltimore,"
sub-title "Police Commissioners," to follow section 745C, and
to be designated as sections 745H, 745 I and .745 J, authorizing
the appointment, with pay, of police matrons for police duty.
SEC. 745H. The Board of Police Commissioners are hereby
empowered to appoint, in their discretion, one or more matrons
to the police force of Baltimore City, with full power to such
matrons to act as conservators of the peace, perform such duties
as the board may prescribe and to be subject in all respects to
such rules and regulations as the Board of Police Commission-
ers may adopt, and the said board shall have the power to
remove any matron appointed by them for the violation of
any rule or regulation of the said board. The salary of a
matron so appointed under the authority of this act shall not
exceed the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000) per annum,
to be paid by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, and
it shall be included in the annual estimate of expenses by
said Board of Police Commissioners, certified to the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore.
SEC. 745 1. Be it further enacted, That not more than five
matrons shall be appointed under authority of this act for
police duty.
SEC. Y45J. Be it further enacted, That the matrons ap-
pointed under authority of this act shall not be required to
pass examination for appointment by the Board of Police Exam-
iners.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to limit and fix the charges for telephone service in
Cecil county.
