SEC. 2. And be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That this act shall take effect from the date of its

CHAPTER 631.
AN ACT to reimburse Alfred A. Stinchcomb of Anne Arundel
county for trees destroyed, and appropriating a sum of money
therefor.

CHAPTER 632.
AN ACT to repeal sections 138 and 139 of Article 2 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Frederick County,"
sub-title "Emmitsburg," and to re-enact the same with
amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 138 and 139 of Article 2 of the Code of
Public Local Laws Maryland, title "Frederick County," sub-
title "Emmitsburg," be and the same are hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments, so that sections 138 and 139 of
said Article 2, shall read as follows:
SEC. 138. The burgess and commissioners of the town of
Emmitsburg are hereby authorized and empowered to contract
with the Emmitsburg Water Company, in Frederick county, a
joint stock water company, for supplying water to the said
town for fire protection, and the erection of fire plugs therein,
and to pay the said Water Company the sum of seven dollars
and fifty cents per plug, on the third Wednesday of January
of each year therefor, which said fire plugs shall be not less than
twenty in number and shall be furnished, erected and main-
tained by the said Water Company for said purpose at such
places in said town, as said burgess and commissioners shall
determine.
SEC. 139. In order to enable the burgess and commissioners
of Emmitsburg to carry out the privisions of the preceding sec-
