800 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [Ch. 557]

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Chapter 395 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1910, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments, so that when re-enacted with amendments it
shall read as follows:

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the inhabitants of North Beach, in Calvert county, Mary-
land, be and they are hereby incorporated and created a cor-
porate body under the name and by the style of North Beach,
and by that name may sue and be sued and have and use a
common seal, and have perpetual succession.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the boundary limits of said
North Beach shall be as follows: So much as lies east of the
west line of Detroit avenue in that tract of land situate, lying
and being in Calvert county, in the State of Maryland, and
heretofore called North Chesapeake Beach, as appears by plat
recorded among the Land Eecords of Calvert county aforesaid
in Liber Q. W. D. No. 1, folio 497 (and also including the
water abutting thereon eastward for a distance of 2,000 feet).
And said town shall have and exercise full police powers within
and for a distance of one thousand feet beyond the land boun-
daries thereof.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all male persons of the
age of twenty-one years and upwards, who, on the day of
election and continuously for a period of thirty days prior
thereto shall be the owner of any interest in real estate in
said town shall elect by ballot on the first Saturday in June
of each year after 1910 a Mayor and six Councilmen of said
town, who shall together constitute the Council of North Beach.
Provided, that no tract of ground comprising less than fifteen
hundred square feet shall serve as a basis of suffrage and that
ownership of an interest in any one such parcel of real estate
shall not be held to constitute a basis of suffrage of more than
one person.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That until the first Saturday in
June, 1911, Charles Williams, William E. Pairo, John W.
Hayes, Lewis T. Griest, Damon A. Binkert, J. Marion Fowler,
John C. Shaw and Clifton Ward shall be and hereby are con-
stituted Councilmen of said town.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said persons so named
and constituted Mayor and Councilmen shall within thirty days
after the passage of this act, or as soon thereafter as practicable,
qualify by taking the oath of office prescribed before a justice
of the peace for Calvert county, and organize as the Council
